What they do

Quebecor is a Canadian leader in telecommunications, entertainment, news media and culture. It is one of the best-performing integrated communications companies in the industry. Working at Quebecor is working with more than 30 brands and digital products.

QUB web and mobile app

Quebecor owns a lot of publications and medias. The idea behind the QUB project was to gather all their content in one unique app. When opening the app, the first element you see is an infinite news feed. Then you can navigate to more specific content such as info, videos, radio, music, books. The app show you content from different sources, and the more you use it, the more you see pertinent content. You can browse videos just like you would do with Netflix, you can listen music and podcasts while reading the news, save content to your library etc.

Designing a cool feature

Here is a concrete exemple of the process of designing a feature in QUB. We introduced the notion of “stories” inside the app. The UX is similar to what users already know from their social media apps. This is a quick way to consume information and a great way for us to showcase the different brands.

Building a responsive grid

QUB also has its own website. The news feeds is a composition of components (cards) which have to adapt to any kind of display. My work here was to create a fixed grid and make sure all type of cards and bundles fit to the system. Any type of content (article, radio balado, music album, video..) can be orchestrated in those cards.

Designing a subscription flow

During my time at Quebecor, i had the opportunity to design the subscription flow for Journal de Montréal. Their subscribers used to fill a paper form to subscribe to the newspaper. We put together an online transactional website for subscriptions. Plus we created a user area where they can manage their account, change the payment method, put the subscription on hold for a period of time, complain, change their address, renew etc.
