Star Citizen

Star Citizen is a massively multiplayer, space exploration and combat simulation game developed and published by Cloud Imperium Games. The project is mainly financed via crowdfunding and raised about $860 million since 2014. The studio had to develop its own game engine and leverage the community in its perpetual development, which make this project very unique in the industry. I have the chance to work for Turbulent, the Montreal division of CIG.

I am currently working on a new exciting project. More to come here!

A Brand New Launcher

The Launcher is the app where users can download and launch our games (Star Citizen, Squadron 42..). Those games are developed under the brand Roberts Space Industries which is the main actor in the Persistent Universe. My mission here is to design mockups and enhance the user experience for the new game launcher.

Icons animation

I created few animated icons to make the Launcher more alive and give the user the feeling of navigating a spaceship dashboard. On a more technical note, all my animations are made with After Effects and use the Lottie format for better performances.

Logo motion

The new RSI logo motion that users see everytime they open the app. The wipe effect used for this animation is also used for page transitions within the Launcher and gives a feeling of speed.

Marketing web pages

The Star Citizen universe has many brands. And each brand has its own personality which must be reflected on the web platform. Everytime a manufacturer release a new spaceship and for every new event, the marketing team build an immersive webpage using our custom page builder. My job here was to design new reusable layouts (modules) and integrate multiple brand identities into our design system.

Creation of brand web guidelines

Here is a process example of creating a new brand identity. In this case it is a luxury brand called Origin. I first started benchmarking real-life examples of luxury jets and yachts. Then I gathered in-game images of Origin ships and started to look for recurring elements in the design of the ships. With those elements in mind, I explored color palettes, fonts and shapes that could best represent the brand. And from this work I was able to create guidelines and adapt it to the web pages.
